Kitty Story Privacy Policy

Kitty Story is a bedtime-story app that lets a parent or caregiver record their own voice, generate personalized stories for their family, and hear those stories read back in a cloned version of that voice. This policy explains what information we collect to make that work, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account information

• Email address and authentication data, when you sign in with email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple.

b. Voice recordings

• A short voice recording you make in the app, which begins with you speaking a consent statement giving Kitty Story permission to clone your voice. This recording is used to create a cloned narration voice for your family.

c. Content you create

• Story preferences (theme, age range) and the resulting generated story text.

• Narration audio synthesized in your cloned voice.

• If you choose to share a story to the Community/Explore section: the story text, tags, likes, comments, and reports you submit.

d. Subscription information

• Purchase and subscription entitlement status. Payment itself is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see or store your payment card details.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in Kitty Story. The App Store and Google Play may separately collect standard diagnostic data (like crash reports) under their own privacy terms.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create your account and keep your family's stories and voices private to you.

• To clone your voice and synthesize narration audio, solely for your own family's use.

• To generate age-appropriate story text based on the preferences you provide.

• To automatically screen community submissions for kid-safety before they're visible to others, and to act on user reports.

• To enforce free-tier usage limits and prevent abuse of the service.

• To manage subscriptions and entitlements, and to provide customer support.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a small number of vendors to run Kitty Story. Each only receives the data needed to perform its function, and each is governed by its own privacy policy.

• Firebase (Google): authentication, database, file storage, and backend functions that power the app.

• ElevenLabs: receives your voice recording to create a cloned voice, and receives story text to synthesize narration audio in that voice.

• Anthropic: receives your story preferences to generate story text, and receives community submissions to screen them for kid-safety.

• RevenueCat: receives purchase and subscription data from the App Store/Google Play to manage your entitlements.

• Apple / Google: handle sign-in (if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google) and all payment processing.

4. Voice Data

Because voice recordings are especially sensitive, they get extra safeguards:

• Only the adult using the app can record a voice, and only after speaking the in-app consent statement.

• Your voice recording and cloned voice are used only to narrate stories for your own account — never shared with other users or used to train any general-purpose model.

• You can delete a cloned voice at any time from within the app. Deletion removes the recording and the cloned voice from our systems and from ElevenLabs.

5. Children's Privacy

Kitty Story is designed for parents and caregivers to use on behalf of the children in their care — not for children to use on their own. Accounts, voice recordings, and purchases are all created and controlled by an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided us personal information directly, we will delete it.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure via Firebase. Access is restricted by security rules so that only your account can read your stories, voices, and narrations. All calls to our third-party providers happen from our backend servers, never directly from the app, so provider credentials are never exposed on your device.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account data, stories, and voices for as long as your account is active. You can delete an individual story, a voice, or your entire account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your data from our active systems, including the corresponding cloned voice at ElevenLabs.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (deleting a voice, a story, or your account), or by contacting us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
